KEEPING OUR EYES ON JESUS
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Heb 12:1
As one begins their walk with Jesus the realization comes that it is a race and as in any race one must keep their focus on completion. The eyes of Jesus draws us, as we fix our eyes upon him.
But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. Ps 141:8
As in any race the course will have obstacles. Those obstacles can be people who disappoint us, sin in ourselves, sin in others, hurt, illness, money, depression and of course the list can go on and on.
But know
that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Heb 4:14
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16
The best part of this race is that Jesus is not only waiting for us upon completion, but is with us very step we take and because of his death and resurrection we have power in him.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Ps 91:7
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape. Ps 141:10
And so we look only upon the face of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:2
Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
Ps 25:15
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1 Cor 9:24
Just keep walking towards His Glory not looking to your right or left but stay on course with your eyes fixed on HIM.
There is a song that I often sing when life requires it.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus and look towards in His wonderful face and the things of this earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace.
